"Text Neck Syndrome"
Improper posture during prolonged use of cell phones and other mobile devices can compromise spinal health.

Reading a message on the cell phone, for example, tilting the neck down and forward, can increase the weight that the head exerts on the spine by up to 5 times.( The head of an adult person weighs 5 kg, an incorrect posture with a tilt of more than 60 degrees increases that weight to up to 30kg!!!)
The syndrome causes an overload in the muscles and vertebral joints, which can cause pain in the back of the neck with irradiation to the shoulders or back, and headache in the posterior region of the head.

To avoid this damage, Ricardo Meirelles, orthopedist and Head of the Spine Disease Center of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (INTO), advises on the correct way to use the cell phone: it is important to always keep the screens at eye level, keeping the head well centered - aligning the ears with the shoulders - and every 20 or 30 minutes perform stretches and change position.
